FFLC Sues Virginia School Boards Association For Public Records

Richmond, VA -Today, the Founding Freedoms Law Center, the legal arm of The Family Foundation, filed a lawsuit in Hanover County Circuit Court against the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) on behalf of Hanover parent Sabrina Civils.

Founding Freedoms Law Center Files Suit Against Goochland School Board Members

Richmond, VA - Today, the Founding Freedoms Law Center filed a lawsuit in Goochland County Circuit Court against four members of the Goochland School Board in their personal capacities on behalf of School Board member Angela Allen. The lawsuit is in response to defamatory statements published by the defendants through a formal Censure Resolution against Ms. Allen at the board’s May 9, 2023 meeting.

Court Finds Jon Tigges “Not Guilty” After Arrest at Loudoun School Board Meeting

Richmond, VA - Today, after a two-day trial, Judge Fleming of the Loudoun County Circuit Court acquitted Jon Tigges of a criminal misdemeanor charge of trespassing when he was arrested at the June 22, 2021 Loudoun School Board meeting for remaining in the meeting room to exercise his First Amendment rights after the former Superintendent, Scott Ziegler, demanded that a packed room of parents leave the building.

Former Employees of University of Virginia File Class Action Lawsuit in Response to UVA’s Systemic Religious Discrimination

Charlottesville, Virginia---The Founding Freedoms Law Center joined with the law firm of CrossCastle, PLLC to file a class-action lawsuit against the University of Virginia Health System in federal court on December 13.

Founding Freedoms Law Center Wins Suit Against Loudoun County School Board for Violating Open  Meetings Law 

LOUDOUN, VA - Late Friday afternoon, Loudoun County Circuit Court Judge James Plowman ruled that the Loudoun County School Board violated Virginia’s open meetings law at its June 22, 2021 meeting when it removed members of the public from the meeting room and continued holding a meeting that  excluded the public. Founding Freedoms Law Center, in partnership with the law firm WhitbeckBennett PLLC, brought the case on behalf of Loudoun parents Megan Clegg, and Adam and Megan Rafalski. 

Judge dismisses suit but clears path for school boards to reject Virginia Department of Education Policy

Richmond, VA–Virginia Circuit Judge J. Frederick Watson today ruled that parents lack standing to file a lawsuit challenging both the procedural and constitutional defects of the Virginia Department of Education’s (“DOE”) recently adopted “Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools.”

Richmond, VA–The Founding Freedoms Law Center, The Family Foundation of Virginia, and Hanover County parent Sarah Via filed a lawsuit today challenging both the procedural and constitutional defects of the Virginia Department of Education’s (“DOE”) recently adopted “Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools.”  The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond.
