Victory: Albemarle High School Backs Down

Last week, the Founding Freedoms Law Center (FFLC) took swift action in responding to Western Albemarle High School’s refusal to allow our President, Victoria Cobb, to speak at their TPUSA club’s regular meeting on the topic of “Two Genders, One Truth.” See our article about it, which includes our demand letter to the school. Yesterday, the school reversed course after the Principal informed the club president that they could hold their meeting as planned after all.

This is a great victory for free speech and assembly. We are thankful to the leadership at Western Albemarle High School who, after hearing from us about their requirements under the Constitution, quickly did the right thing and allowed the TPUSA event to go forward during their normal lunchtime hour.

They might have also been influenced by the immense public pressure that came upon them from social and other media outlets.

Victoria’s video clip about the situation quickly went viral. Rob Schilling out of nearby Charlottesville featured the situation on his radio show. And plenty of others were talking about it, as well, including Joe Thomas and American Thinker.

Now, more students will be able to hear the truth about God’s design for humans, male and female. That is the big win. And because of the attention this situation caused, likely more students than before will be there to hear this critical message.
