Richard Cullen
Richard Cullen is a senior partner at McGuireWoods and a distinguished legal figure with decades of experience in both public service and private practice. He previously served as Attorney General of Virginia, appointed by Governor George Allen in 1997, and as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia under President George H. W. Bush. He also co-chaired Virginia’s Commission on Parole Abolition and Sentencing Reform alongside former U.S. Attorney General William Barr.
From 2006 to 2017, Cullen served as chairman of McGuireWoods, representing high-profile clients such as former Vice President Mike Pence, The Boeing Company, and the parents of Otto Warmbier, the University of Virginia student held hostage by North Korea. Deeply rooted in Virginia, he lives in Henrico with his wife, is the father of four, and grandfather to eleven. Cullen remains active in civic organizations across the Commonwealth.
