Attorney General Jason Miyares
Attorney General Jason Miyares is the 48th Attorney General of Virginia and the first Hispanic American and first child of an immigrant elected to statewide office in the Commonwealth. His story begins with his mother, Miriam Miyares, who fled communist Cuba and built a new life in Virginia—instilling in Jason a deep appreciation for freedom and justice. A graduate of James Madison University and William & Mary Law School, Miyares served as a prosecutor in Virginia Beach before being elected to the Virginia House of Delegates and later Attorney General in 2022.
Since taking office, Miyares has prioritized public safety, combating the opioid crisis, and holding institutions accountable. His office has secured over $1 billion in opioid settlements and launched Operation Ceasefire to reduce violent crime. He also investigated the Loudoun County Public Schools’ handling of sexual assaults, leading to a superintendent’s conviction. Miyares is a husband, father of three, and a passionate defender of the American Dream—committed to protecting it for future generations.
